An old Yorkshire term for pieces of bread floating in warm milk given to young children or the elderly during sickness.

When I was a small child in Lancashire England in the 1940’s my mother would give me white bread broken in pieces, topped with warm milk and sprinkled with sugar for breakfast. It was called pobbies.

Not only a Yorkshire expression but also in Carlisle, Cumberland 70 years ago when I was a boy.
